1.President of the International Society of Oral Oncology, 2015-2017

Professor Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis has undertaken as the President of the International Society of Oral Oncology/ISOO, which is affiliated with the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer/mascc.org. Searching information for the status of Oral Oncology at the various local, national and international levels in included in the main goals. This search is anticipated to highlight the Oral Supportive Oncology to the benefit of the cancer patients.

2.Chair of the Bone Study Group, 2015-2018

Professor Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis was honored with her appointment as Chair of the Bone Study Group, www.mascc.org.
She has undertaken the responsibility for the osteonecrosis of the jaw and the position paper and the publication of guidelines for the prevention, early diagnosis and management of the osteonecrosis of the jaw in patients, who receive antiresorptives or other osteonecrosis-related medications.

3.Invited lecturer

Professor Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis was invited to present stomatitis in targeted anticancer therapies in the Annual Symposium of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, Copenhagen, June 2015.

4. 4rth Day of Oral Oncology

Oral care by an appropriately educated dentist should be performed before the initiation and during the course of targeted, biological therapies and immunotherapies in patients with cancer.

That was the message of the 4th Day of Oral Oncology, May 16, 2015, Athens, Greece, which was organized by the Hellenic Society of Oral Oncology/HSOO, www.oraloncology.gr, at the Dental School. It was well attended by more than 100 dentists, oncologists, and nurses .
Day of Oral Oncology (activities)

The contribution of targeted therapies and immunotherapies to the increased prognosis of the cancer patients was highlighted by distinguished medical oncologists. Those therapies, however, are related to potentially serious and painful oral complications, which can lead to therapy interruptions or dose modifications, and may compromise the quality of life of the patient, as presented by Professor Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis.

The Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer «Alma Zois» and the Hellenic Society of Volunteers against Cancer «Agaliazo» honored the meeting with their presence and lectures.
The Meeting was endorsed by MASCC/ISOO, MMOF (Mediterranean Multidisciplinary Oncology Forum), the Dental School of Athens, the Dental Association of Athens, the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology, the Hellenic Society of Hematology, and the Hellenic Society of Radiation Oncology.
